The government has planned the carnival as part of a series of activities to commemorate the country’s eight decades of independence. The activities began on August 1 and will run through August 24.
“He (the President) will see off participants of the carnival. The starting point cannot be disclosed yet, but it is not far from the palace,” Hadi told the media at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The minister, who is heading the celebration committee, highlighted that the carnival will be a special feature of this year’s Independence Day commemoration.
“Our plan is to organize the carnival, its parade, in the evening,” he said.

He added that President Prabowo is hoping to build public optimism through the festivities in the face of ongoing issues and challenges.
Separately, Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Juri Ardiantoro, informed that the activities on August 17 will begin with a re-enactment of the proclamation of Indonesia’s independence at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta in the morning.
The ceremony, he added, will be followed by a public feast in the central courtyard of the palace in the afternoon. A similar all-day event will also take place at the National Monument (Monas) square.
The official said that the celebration at Monas will feature a fireworks show and a parade involving representatives from ministries and government agencies, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), Attorney General’s Office, and state- and region-owned enterprises.
During the parade, the participants from different institutions will be accompanied by vehicles, which will be decorated with themes promoting their respective programs.
