After reviewing an initial rehearsal for the ceremony in the courtyard of Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, he informed that the 76 members, selected from 38 provinces, will be inaugurated ahead of the full dress rehearsal of the ceremony, which will re-enact Indonesia’s independence proclamation of August 17, 1945.
The minister said that Tuesday’s rehearsal was aimed at helping the flag raisers and other ceremony personnel adapt to the venue and refine their preparations for their tasks, which will include a flag-lowering procession in the afternoon on D-Day.
The minister emphasized that heavy rain did not disrupt the rehearsal, which went smoothly.
“Hopefully, we will see better weather on Sunday, August 17 (2025). However, we do not consider weather an obstacle. Rain or shine, we will proceed,” Hadi said.
He added that the government will evaluate the entire ceremonial team to ensure optimal performance on the day. He noted that some flag raisers appeared nervous during the rehearsal, since it was their first time training at the palace.
Before the rehearsal at the palace, the Paskibraka members held a similar training session with military and police teams in Depok, West Java, on Monday afternoon, before moving to Jakarta in the evening.
Three of the 76 Paskibraka members will be tasked with bearing the flag’s tray and hoisting the flag. Their names will be announced on D-Day.
