“A registered brand not only increases the value of a product or service but also provides legal protection in business management,”
Ternate (ANTARA) - The North Maluku Office of the Ministry of Law said on Friday that Citra Bacan Batik, a leading local product from South Halmahera District, has been registered as a brand in the database of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP).

Head of the North Maluku Ministry of Law Regional Office, Budi Argap Situngkir, emphasized the importance of protecting local products by registering them as trademarks.

“A registered brand not only increases the value of a product or service but also provides legal protection in business management,” he said in Ternate.

The North Maluku Ministry of Law provided online assistance for the registration process of Citra Bacan Batik through its Intellectual Property service team.

This support aims to help business owners minimize mistakes during the registration process that could result in rejection during DGIP’s substantive examination.

“The North Maluku Regional Office offers free registration services. We hope the process goes smoothly so that the brand will be accepted and improve the competitiveness of local products in regional, national, and international markets,” Situngkir added.

The owner of Citra Bacan Batik, Mukhlis Abdurrauf, expressed appreciation for the assistance provided.

He noted that the support was crucial, especially for communities with limited access to information.

“The Citra Bacan Batik brand is our effort to protect the works we produce,” he said.

Through the online system, the brand owner was able to submit the registration application, complete the administrative requirements, and receive a billing code from the DGIP system.

The North Maluku Ministry of Law will continue monitoring the process until the trademark certificate is issued.
