Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is conducting a final review to ensure that the gaming platform Roblox complies with national regulations.

The ministry urged Roblox to "put on stricter security measures to ensure the safety of younger players... including by limiting access to risky contents that harm children," Director General for Cyberspace Monitoring Alexander Sabar stated during a meeting with the company's representatives.

Roblox has already met some regulations, particularly those outlined in Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection.

However, the ministry still insists that Roblox establish an office in Indonesia.

Minister Meutya Hafid noted that Roblox "must have a representative office in Indonesia, and also adhere to regulations, particularly PP Tunas and Saman, which outlines children protection in cyberspace."

She added that the ministry will continue to monitor the platform, and if needed, will take action.

"On a regular basis we will call them, and then we decide whether to block them, whether they need a stricter age limit," she said.

The National Child Protection Agency (KPAI) has also urged the ministry to investigate the platform's negative impacts on children who have fallen victim to cybercrimes like fraud, cyberbullying, and exploitation.

KPAI Commissioner Kawiyan noted that negligence on the provider's end in operating their electronic system also leads to children becoming more prone to become victims.
