"The four victims found were women and were taken to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital using an Al Mandiri ambulance, a BPBD ambulance, and a Namru ambulance for identification," said the Head of the Bali Basarnas Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, in Denpasar, on Thursday.
Heavy rains that have hit Bali, especially Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Jembrana districts since Tuesday have resulted in major flooding in various areas on Wednesday.
The flooding, caused by overflowing rivers, has swept away several victims. As of Wednesday, September 10, evening, the Bali Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) reported that three deceased victims had been found in Denpasar alone: Nadira, Ni Wayan Lenyot, and Dedek Rio Adi Saputra.
Meanwhile, six people are still being searched for, namely Ni Ketut Merta, Made Sawitri, Tasnim, Farwa Husein, Amin Suwandi, and Maimunah, leading to a second day of search operations.
"This morning, since 6:00 a.m. local time, the joint SAR team has continued the search, focusing on the starting point, the Tukad Badung River to the Tukad Badung Reservoir," he said.
At 7:59 a.m. local time, the joint SAR team at the location received information from fishermen that two bodies had been found in the swamps at the mouth of the Tukad Badung Reservoir.
"The team immediately moved to the location, and while the SAR team was evacuating, another body was spotted. Shortly after, another body was found around 9:40 a.m. local time," said Sidakarya.
The head of the Bali Basarnas could not confirm the identities of the victims found today, but one of the bodies was found carrying a small bag containing a savings and loan cooperative card in the name of Nyoman Sari.
Meanwhile, no items were found to identify the other bodies.
"We are awaiting the results from Prof. Ngoerah Hospital to avoid any conflicting information," said Sidakarya.
The SAR team then conducted a search at 11:00 a.m. local time using five canoes belonging to local fishermen and a crew of 10.
"The search route encompassed the swamps and the waters near Benoa. At 12:35 p.m. local time, the joint SAR team completed the search, but still found nothing," he said.
