Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Mataram Hotel Association (AHM) in West Nusa Tenggara Province has pledged not to excessively increase room rates during the Indonesian MotoGP, on October 3-5, 2025, at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok District.

The AHM Secretary, Rega Fajar Firdaus, on Tuesday, informed that the organization and AHM members have agreed not to increase prices excessively during MotoGP.

"No one should raise rates above the published price, especially when occupancy has not yet reached 30 percent," he emphasized.

According to Firdaus, room rates have begun to increase ahead of the MotoGP event, although occupancy is still low. However, the increases are still within a reasonable threshold, as stated in the government regulations.

Hotels in Mataram and Senggigi are designated as being in Ring II, allowing them to raise rates to twice the published price.

"We hope the government's price increase standards can be properly applied to avoid problems," he continued.

On the other hand, he informed that the hotel room booking rate in Mataram City is currently far from expectations. According to data, hotel occupancy rates were around 20-30 percent as of mid-September.

Firdaus stated that hotel occupancy rates have so far averaged below 30 percent for the MotoGP season, indicating no sign of improvement.

"We hope hotel occupancy will increase significantly next week," he pointed out.

He addressed that this low occupancy rate is caused by a lack of spectators, with current conditions considered quieter than in previous years.

"Spectator enthusiasm seems to be somewhat lower this year," he said.

Furthermore, the continued decline in interest in MotoGP poses a challenge, requiring collaboration between the provincial and city governments and tourism stakeholders to revive the MotoGP atmosphere in Lombok.

"However, for MotoGP 2025, we are targeting occupancy to reach 70 percent," he noted.

Meanwhile, a management representative from Hart Hotel, Ratna, said that of the 40 rooms available, only 12 have been booked online by MotoGP spectators.

"Usually, in previous years, the rooms are fully booked ahead of MotoGP. But hopefully, the 40 rooms we have prepared will be fully booked next week," she disclosed.
