Semarang (ANTARA) - National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reported that the police have helped the government distribute about 72.5 thousand tons of subsidized rice under the 2025 Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) program.

Speaking in Semarang District, Central Java, on Tuesday, he said the achievement was realized through Polri's Affordable Food Movement (GPM), which has reached 54,454 locations nationwide to support food security.

He noted that the 72.5 thousand tons of rice account for 27 percent of Polri’s distribution target.

The initiative, he added, has been well received by citizens as it helps make rice more affordable and accessible.

"We hope that the prices of medium- and premium-grade rice will remain stable," Prabowo said.

The Polri chief further mentioned reports indicating that rice prices at both traditional markets and modern retailers have been declining toward the government’s highest retail price.

"We all share the responsibility to keep food commodity prices stable, ensuring they remain affordable for the people," he emphasized.
