New York (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, United States, heading to Ottawa, Canada on Wednesday to continue his official state visit.

At the airport, President Prabowo was seen off under the aircraft stairs by Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, alongside the Military Attaché from the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C., Colonel Arm Tri Arto Subagio.

During his stay in New York, President Prabowo attended a series of meetings at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where his debut speech to the global forum received widespread praise from world leaders.

“I consider it a great honor. I was given the opportunity to speak and was given a respectable place in the speaking order. Brazil is always first, and the U.S. always second. Then the opportunity was given to Indonesia as a sign of respect and appreciation for Indonesia,” the President remarked.

He emphasized that Indonesia used the UN platform to consistently advocate for global peace.

“Thank God, I used the opportunity to convey our stance, Indonesia’s stance, particularly in urging the resolution of conflicts around the world. What matters most to us is that we deeply feel the heartbreaking suffering of the people in Gaza,” Prabowo stated.

Furthermore, Prabowo noted that many nations responded positively to Indonesia’s firm yet balanced stance. He said that Indonesian perspectives were seen as realistic by a number of world leaders present at the forum.

During his visit, President Prabowo also participated in the High-Level International Conference of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the UN General Assembly. He also attended the Multilateral Meeting on the Middle East, held at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.

In addition, the President held a bilateral meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. He also met with global philanthropy figure and Gates Foundation founder Bill Gates, awarding him a national honor for his outstanding dedication to the welfare of humanity.
