Speaking at the International Sustainable Rice Forum (ISRF) 2025, Hasan said the program will require a sharp rise in national output of eggs, fish, poultry, vegetables, and fruit after years of growth focused mainly on carbohydrate crops.
He noted that providing one egg per beneficiary per day would require 82.9 million eggs daily next year.

To meet demand, the government plans to build large-scale fish farms covering about 20,000 hectares in Java and expand aquaculture across 500 districts and cities. It will also establish 2,000 fishing villages in 2026.
Hasan said boosting livestock feed production and expanding national poultry farming are also key to strengthening protein supplies.
Citing data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), he said rice production is expected to reach 34.77 million tons this year, while corn output is forecast to rise nine percent.
Hasan also said Indonesia will not import rice at the end of 2025, projecting a domestic surplus of about four million tons by year-end.
He added that innovation and new technologies remain essential to expanding food production, calling superior rice varieties, wider mechanization, and increased research — including support from international partners — critical to accelerating agricultural transformation.
Hasan said Indonesia is aiming for “massive food sovereignty” within one to five years.
