Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said strong infrastructure support is essential to keep travel flows safe, comfortable and smooth during the peak holiday period.
He said the government has checked and prepared all transport infrastructure under his ministry to ensure it can accommodate the expected increase in passenger movement. AHY said ports and roll-on/roll-off ferry services have been optimized to handle a potential spike in holiday traffic across major routes.
He noted that previous Christmas-New Year and Eid return periods recorded significant declines in accidents and congestion, driven by better interagency coordination and improved transport facilities.
The government will continue strengthening transport systems to ensure long-term improvements in public mobility across Indonesia, he said.
Smooth holiday travel, he added, contributes not only to safety and comfort but also supports economic growth, particularly for small businesses, tourism and the creative economy.
AHY said all transport modes—land, sea and air—are being prepared to operate at full capacity to support increased public activity during the year-end holidays.
The government officially launched a national transport fare discount program on November 21, 2025, to encourage public mobility during the Christmas and New Year period.
Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the policy follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to provide public incentives through more affordable transport services.
He said mobility plays a critical role in driving economic growth and must be optimized during the December–January holiday period to sustain domestic demand.
The government expects the combined infrastructure readiness and fare incentives to ease congestion, enhance travel experience and strengthen year-end economic momentum.
