“May the collaboration between MRT Jakarta and BSI benefit both parties, especially the public,” MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat said during the launching here on Wednesday.
He said the company received three mandates from the government: building infrastructure; operating and maintaining trains, tracks, stations, and related facilities; and developing transit areas at each station.
These mandates align with the sustainable development of the Jakarta MRT project.
Meanwhile, BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said their presence as part of MRT Jakarta is expected to support urban mobility.
“With BSI in Lebak Bulus, we become closer to the public, present in public spaces, allowing people to better understand sharia banking products,” Cahyo said.
He also noted two goals of BSI, which are increasing Indonesia’s sharia banking literacy rate, currently at 4.3 percent, while inclusivity stands at 13 percent.
The next goal is promoting sustainability by encouraging the public to use public transportation, he added.
“These two points form the basis of our cooperation with MRT, literacy and encouraging people to use the MRT,” he said.
He added that BSI aims to bring sharia banking closer through new products such as zakat (alms), infaq, and other donation services.
“God willing, this brings blessings not only for BSI but also for MRT. Each year, part of our profits is allocated for zakat,” Cahyo said.
So far, nine MRT Jakarta stations have naming rights: Bundaran HI Bank DKI, Fatmawati Indomaret, Cipete Raya TUKU, Blok M BCA, Senayan Mastercard, Istora Mandiri, Setiabudi Astra, Dukuh Atas BNI, and Lebak Bulus Bank Syariah Indonesia.
