"I had instructed this. We will immediately re-inspect all existing buildings. The real problem isn’t with the tall buildings that follow the regulations, but with those that keep emerging,” he stated in Central Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to him, the Terra Drone shophouse that caught fire in Kemayoran yesterday did not have a valid Certificate of Functional Worthiness (SLF).
To prevent similar incidents from recurring, the governor plans to regulate buildings that lack safety standards in Jakarta.
“The building involved had expanded. It was surrounded by older structures, and only that one had grown, so the necessary requirements weren’t fulfilled. That’s what we will follow up on,” he continued.
During his inspection of the fire site, he noted that the core issue was the building’s failure to comply with safety standards.
Although the building was equipped with a portable fire extinguisher (APAR), Pramono said it did not have any special safety measures for lithium battery products.
"If I look at the structure and everything, they definitely violated the regulations. Why? The stairs were very small, and that's why some people couldn't get down," he added.
However, he confirmed that his office would cover all costs for both the injured and those who died in the fire.
For the deceased, he said, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would cover all funeral costs to ease the burden on their families.
The costs of hospital treatment for victims who sustained injuries in the fire were also covered.
"Those injured will be referred, and we, the Jakarta Government, will cover the costs," Pramono confirmed.
He emphasized that the fire, which claimed 22 lives, should serve as a reminder to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Therefore, Pramono urged anyone with business premises to prioritize safety.
