According to a report from the Presidential Secretariat received by ANTARA, the helicopter carrying the President landed in a football field after departing from Soewondo Air Force Base, North Sumatra.
From the helipad, the President and his entourage proceeded directly to the evacuation post at Aceh Tamiang Bridge.
Along the route, visible signs of disaster were evident, including mud deposits on roads and trees dried by the flash floods.
“I came as promised. At the time, (access to) Tamiang was still cut off. When was it cleared? About a week ago. I promised to come and see them,” the President said.
Upon arriving at the evacuation post, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by children singing. He then visited the health post providing medical services to the evacuees.
At the health post, the President asked patients about their conditions, offered prayers for their recovery, and talked with healthcare personnel on duty.
He also inspected affected residential areas under the bridge, witnessing homes damaged by thick mud deposits, debris, and household items swept away by floodwaters.
In the evacuation tents, children greeted the President warmly, offering handshakes, hugs, and smiles.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya also distributed toys to children at the evacuation site. Residents expressed their gratitude before the President departed.
The surrounding cityscape, affected by roads filled with dried mud and dust-covered walls and vehicles, also drew the President's attention.
Accompanying President Prabowo during the visit were, among others, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto.
