Farhan prevailed 13-21, 21-8, 21-12 at Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus, sealing gold for Indonesia after rallying from the loss of the opening game.
Ubaidillah took the first game as Farhan struggled to counter his aggressive attacks. Farhan regrouped in the second, tightening his defense and playing patiently to level the match.
In the decider, Ubaidillah lost momentum, allowing Farhan to dictate play and close out the contest.
The 20-year-old was visibly emotional after match point, covering his face before embracing Ubaidillah as officials confirmed his gold medal.
Farhan’s title capped a strong tournament run. He opened his men’s singles campaign with a straight-games win over Vietnam’s Nguyen Hai Dang, 21-17, 21-15, in the round of 16 on Thursday.
He then beat the Philippines’ Clarence Villaflor 21-14, 21-18 in the quarterfinals on Friday.
In Saturday’s semifinals, Farhan overcame Malaysia’s Hoh Shou Wei in three games, winning 21-10, 15-21, 21-14 to reach the final.
