“MSMEs are the engines of an inclusive and sustainable economy in IKN and surrounding areas,” said Ferdinand Kana Lo, OIKN's Director of Investment and Ease of Doing Business, when asked about the IKN investment ecosystem here on Saturday.
The Authority plans to develop MSMEs more intensively through the construction of the Nusantara Integrated Industrial Center (SITNa), MSME galleries, and service centers as mentoring hubs.
Additionally, coaching clinics, the formation of MSME organizations or cooperatives (KUBE), the development of an integrated database to realize Smart MSMEs, and strengthening Risk-Based Business Licensing (PBBR) oversight will be carried out.
OIKN also commits to factoring MSME growth support into infrastructure planning and development.
“By building a strong IKN economic ecosystem with MSMEs as the backbone, they can continue to grow and transform into larger-scale businesses,” he explained.
Together with Bank Indonesia, the OIKN emphasizes strengthening the MSME economy through strategic steps such as thematic area arrangements, easier access to financing, MSME curation for investment readiness, digitalization, and integration into supply chains.
“To date, 888 MSMEs are fostered by the OIKN across seven districts within the IKN delineation area,” he said.
The IKN economy is designed under the Tri-City Economy framework: IKN as the center of government and green investment, Samarinda (capital of East Kalimantan) as the historical hub with revitalized energy sectors, and Balikpapan as the downstream oil and gas and logistics center of Kalimantan.
OIKN strengthens the regional economy by positioning MSMEs as the main drivers of investment and ease of doing business, emphasizing quality, responsibility, and commitment to customers.
