Based on ANTARA's observation, President Prabowo promptly approached stacks of Rp100,000 bills in the lobby of a building upon his arrival at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the company of Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the president was seen conversing with Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin while gazing at the 1.5meter stacks before delivering a speech.
Addressing the AGO, Prabowo expressed his delight and pride in the Forestry Regulation Enforcement (PKH) Task Force, which he established on January 21 this year, crediting it with upholding the law while boosting state revenue by Rp2.34 trillion (US$138 million) through penalty collection.
According to available information, the penalty funds showcased before the head of state were collected during Phase V of the government’s ongoing repossession of forest areas covering approximately 896,969.143 hectares.
Through the PKH Task Force, the government has managed to regain control of 4,081,569.58 hectares of plantation land—representing over 400 percent of the initial target. The recovered area is estimated to be worth more than Rp150 trillion (around US$9 billion).
Furthermore, the task force has handed over 2,482,220.343 hectares of the recovered land to relevant ministries, with state-run plantation company PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara obtaining rights to manage 1,708,033.583 hectares.
Additionally, a total of 688,427 hectares of land, including conservation areas within Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau, have been handed over to relevant ministries for restoration efforts.
Meanwhile, the AGO successfully returned Rp4.28 trillion (over US$255 million) to the state through its handling of corruption cases.
The handover was also attended by Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, and State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi.
