“History teaches us: peace and stability are our most valuable assets. Peace and stability are the ultimate prerequisites for growth and prosperity,” Prabowo said Thursday in a special address.
He said the world is facing difficult conditions marked by ongoing conflicts and fragile trust among nations, institutions and peoples.
In that context, Prabowo stressed that prosperity cannot be achieved without peace and that stability is the vital base for long-term economic development.
He pointed to an International Monetary Fund assessment that describes Indonesia as a “bright spot” in the global economy.
The IMF’s view is based on Indonesia’s resilient performance despite external pressures, including trade tensions, tighter global financial conditions and international political uncertainty.

Prabowo said Indonesia’s economy has maintained growth of more than five percent a year over the past decade and expressed confidence the country can reach even higher rates.
He added that inflation has remained around two percent, while the government budget deficit has been kept below three percent.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia’s economic policies have been consistently well calibrated to manage risks and support growth.
He also said peace and stability in Indonesia have been achieved through the country’s choice of unity over fragmentation.
“We, Indonesia, have and will always continue to choose unity over fragmentation, friendship and collaboration over confrontation,” he said.
The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 is being held from Jan. 19 to Jan. 23 under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.”
The gathering brings together world leaders, economists, academics, experts and practitioners to discuss global economic challenges.
