Jakarta (ANTARA) - Two home golfers, Kristina Natalia Yoko and Sania Talitha Wahyudi, shared a place in the top six after the first round of the Indonesia Women’s Open Presented by BTN 2026 at South Tangerang on Friday.

Yoko and Wahyudi both carded a score of 68, or four under par, to sit in tied sixth place (T6) in the tightly contested tournament offering a total prize purse of US$600 thousand.

Yoko recorded seven birdies and three bogeys in her second appearance at the event, improving on last year’s score of 69. She admitted feeling nervous early in the round.

“I was a bit nervous at the start, especially playing in my home country. I tried to focus shot by shot. I missed a few on the greens that led to bogeys, then my caddie and I became more careful and it paid off,” she said in a written statement.

The opening round featured 120 players, including 29 Indonesian golfers comprising 13 professionals and 16 amateurs. The second edition of Indonesia’s national women’s open was completed on schedule despite concerns over bad weather in recent days.

Meanwhile, Wahyudi recovered well after opening her round with a bogey by posting five birdies. The amateur golfer and member of Indonesia’s SEA Games 2026 national team relied on consistent ball striking and a well-prepared strategy.

“Today I followed the plan from the practice round. Ball placing was good, shots were solid, and my short game worked, allowing me to finish four under,” she said.

The Indonesia Women’s Open Presented by BTN 2026 served as the opening tournament in Indonesia for this season’s Asia-Pacific Circuit (APAC Circuit), following the Taiwan Mobile Ladies Open held in December 2025.

The tournament features elite golfers from more than 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including players from the KLPGA Dream Tour.
