Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to personally deliver the government’s Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) during a plenary session at the parliament complex on Wednesday (May 20).

Traditionally, this vital economic policy speech is delivered by the finance minister or another cabinet member acting on behalf of the head of state.

"I just checked earlier, this is likely the very first time (a president has done this)," the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad told reporters at the parliament complex on Tuesday.

Dasco clarified that while previous administrations delegated the task to ministers, there is no constitutional barrier preventing the president from taking the podium directly.

"It is completely permissible. This serves as the introductory framework for the drafting of the 2027 State Budget," Dasco explained.

The high-profile session will take place at the Nusantara Building, where parliamentary staff are currently finalizing preparations.

According to the official legislative agenda published by the DPR RI, the historic economic address is just one of several key items scheduled for Wednesday's session.

First of all, the government will officially present the KEM-PPKF state document for the 2027 Fiscal Year.

Second of all, following this, the DPR's Legislative Body (Baleg) will deliver a report evaluating revisions to the 2026 National Legislation Program priority bill list, which will be followed by a decision-making vote.

Finally, political factions will present their stances regarding a House-initiated bill to amend the 2002 National Police Act, moving into a vote to formally adopt it as an official legislative initiative.
