"This means that we need at least Rp9 trillion in investment a year," H.M. Nur Asikin Amin, second assistant to the provincial government`s secretary, said here on Friday night.
He said Rp1.5 trillion of the annual investment would originate from the regional budget and Rp7.5 trillion from medium and large scale companies.
The private investment was expected to encourage the agriculture and mining sectors, he said.
The presence of private investment would no doubt help the province reduce poverty and unemployment rates, he said.
"Nearly 1 million of West Nusa Tenggara`s 4.4 million population still live in poverty. Our unemployment rate currently stands at 5.8 percent. By encouraging medium scale companies to invest I believe they can create new job opportunities," he said.
