Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian National Police are sending three teams to hunt down international fugitive former Democrat Party (PD) treasurer Mohammad Nazaruddin.

"It is enough for us to send three teams," National Police Chief Investigator Insp. General Sutarman said here on Thursday.

At present, he said, Nazaruddin is now staying in a country but Sutarman did not disclose which country he meant.

"We cannot arrest and touch the man so that we need diplomacy and cooperation with the Interpol," he said.

Police said Nazaruddin could go to a country because he had used a forged identity.

"We have not yet known where he falsified his identity. We predict that he could be arrested if he uses his original identity because its number has been lifted and has gained red notice," he said.

Indonesian police have sent notice to the police chief of the country where Nazaruddin is expected to be hiding.

"Information from that country said that there was no illegal citizen there. But he (Nazaruddin) has used a forged identity," he said.

Earlier, the Indonesian National Police have sent a red notice to the Interpol.

He said that the establishment of the red notice was based on the request of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for Nazaruddin, a suspect in an alleged corruption case in the construction of a SEA Games athlete house in Palembang, South Sumatra.

In the meantime, National Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo said earlier police were investigating the case and doing their best to locate Nazaruddin abroad and bring him home for questioning as a corruption suspect in the construction of a SEA Games athletes village in Palembang, South Sumatra.
