Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono said his visit to Muhammdiyah central executive office on Friday was to step up communications between the government and the Indonesian Islamic reform organization.

"I have long been a friend with Muhammadiyah Chairman Din Syamsudin and my visit to Muhammadiyah office is to exchange views with Pak (Mr) Din and to facilitate government communication with the Indonesian Islamic reform organization," the vice president said.

Boediono said his desire to stay in touch with the ranks and file the Muhammadiyah central board was conveyed last year when he closed the organization`s 46th conference in Yogyakarta in July 2010.

"My desire to visit Muhammadiyah office is finally realized in the run up to the upcoming Ramadhan fasting month, and I think it is very good," the vice president added.

Meanwhile, Din Syamsuddin said that at the meeting, Vice President Boediono and Muhammadiyah central board members discussed strategic partnership between both sides.

Din said the strategic partnership has a mutually beneficial relationship between the government and Muhammadiyah in relation to Muslim community economic development.

According to Din, there should be a synergy between the government and civil civil society organizations including Muhammadiyah to support the people`s economy.

He added that if the people could enjoy the cake of the economy, the government would be more established.

In his visit to the Muhammadiyah office, the vice president also took a few minutes of his time to perform Friday prayers with the people and members of the organization`s central board.

On the occasion, the vice president also met with People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Taufik Kiemas.
