Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)`s Ethics Committee on Monday questioned Saan Mustopha, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Law Commission, about a meeting between graft suspect Nazaruddin and KPK officials.

"I will be questioned in connection with my participation in a meeting between Nazaruddin, Ade and Johan Budi (from KPK)," Saan said on arrival at the KPK building.

He said the meeting occurred in January 2010 in a restaurant in the Casablanca area attended by KPK enforcement deputy Ade Rahardja and KPK spokesman Johan Budi.

Saan confirmed that the meeting did occur but denied that it was about a corruption case.

On Monday (August 15) the chairman of the law department of the Democrat Party, Benny K Harman, admitted that he had met with Chandra M Hamzah at the residence of Mohammad Zazaruddin, who was at the time the Democrat Party`s general treasurer.

He said he had also attended a meeting with Ade Rahardja at a Japanese restaurant in the Casablanca area at the invitation of Saan Mustopha.

He said his participation in the meeting with Chandra M Hamzah at Nazaruddin`s house at the invitation of Nazaruddin.

The KPK Ethics Committee was set up at the public`s urging after Nazaruddin from his overseas hideout revealed that he had met with some KPK officials to discuss a case.

KPK has named Nazaruddin a suspect in bribery case linked to a SEA Games athletes village project in Palembang. Nazaruddin left for Singapore on May 23, a day before KPK asked the ministry of law to issue a travel ban on him. He was caught in Cartagena, Colombia, on August 7.
