The embassy said in a media release that the `Science by Doing` was an initiative of the Australian Government and the Australian Academy of Sciences to improve secondary science education.
The workshops, hosted by the science teaching regional centre of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) and supported by Australia`s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace, will take place at the Inna Sindhu Hotel in Bali and the SEAMEO Regional Center in Bandung.
Attending will be university lecturers, teachers, government officials and students to learn about new approaches to learning that encourage teachers to work together to improve student learning outcomes.
"Science by Doing actively engages students in learning science and assists teachers to enhance their inquiry-based teaching. I am looking forward to sharing with Indonesian teachers and policy makers how effective professional learning can be and discussing strategies for its application in Indonesia," said Druhan.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Greg Moriarty welcomed the visit and said, "This is a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas on different approaches to teaching science and increasing cooperation and people-to-people links between Australia and Indonesia."
While in Indonesia, Druhan will also be a keynote speaker at the 2nd International Conference on Science Education and Teacher Professional Development in Bali on 11 -14 September, which will be attended by school science teachers and educators from around the world.
