"I have come here to get first-hand information on the handling of this calamity that has been going on for many years," Boediono told officials of the Sidoardjo Mudflow Mitigation Agency.
The vice president said to face the obstacles that exist, the mudflow should be handled in better ways in the future because it was posing great risks in natural terms.
"We have to anticipate these risks and I am certain that there will be an optimum effort for that because we have also discussed the ways to handle the mud flow," the vice president said.
He also expressed high appreciation to the Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Agency and security officials at the mud site.
The vice president then called on related parties to handle the mudflow and overcome it completely.
After spending about 30 minutes at the mud site, the vice president and his entourage boarded a helicopter and continued his working visit in the Sidoarjo region.
The vice president`s entourage included Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto, East Java Governor Soekarwo, and Sidoarjo Mudflow Mitigation Agency Chief Soenarso.(*)
