Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Two Indonesian boxers, respectively Alex Tatontos and Julio Bria grabbed two gold medals at the 26th SEA Games here on Monday.

In matches watched by hundreds of spectators, four Indonesian boxers competed.

In the middleweight category (up to 75 kg), Alex Tatontos defeated Muhamad Farkhan of Malaysia 25-16.

Julio Bria in the bantamweight (52kg) won from Chatchai Butde of Thailand 19-16.

Afdan Bachtila of Indonesia lost from Dennis Galvan of the Philippines 14-12, and Matius Mandiangan, also from Indonesia, was defeated by Charly Suarez from the Philippines. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed high appreciation to Indonesian athletes for their good achievement in the 26th SEA Games that leads the country to become an overall champion.

The 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games is being held in Palembang, Jakarta and West Java, from November 11 to 22, 2011.

The SEA Games is being participated in by Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, and Timor Leste.

Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha told the press at the presidential palace complex here on Monday that the head of state was proud of the achievement made by the national athletes, including the football national team which will play against Malaysian in the final on Monday night.

"The president appreciates the athletes especially those winning medals that leads (the nation) to become the overall winner. The president very much appreciates that, including of course the national football team playing tonight," Julian said. (*)
