"Personally, I am ready to be put in whatever position. I follow the principle that the spirit of a soldier never dies. With it the request from 33 Hanura provincial boards may not be ignored or rejected," he said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The General Chairman of the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura), Wiranto, expressed his readiness to be re-nominated as a presidential candidate for the election in 2014.

"Personally, I am ready to be put in whatever position. I follow the principle that the spirit of a soldier never dies. With it the request from 33 Hanura provincial boards may not be ignored or rejected," he said when closing the national meeting of the party here on Wednesday.

The request was made upon a reason that Wiranto is a favorable figure for vote collection and marketable in regions because of his experience, firmness and goodwill for the interests of the state and nation.

Organizationally however there will be a special forum that will decide his formal declaration.

The former minister of defense and security/commander of the armed forces admitted the request had actually been made for a long time by party cadres in the regions. For that he said he appreciated it very much.

"Because we have been focusing on internal consolidation I could only express my readiness now. Therefore no communication has been made with other political parties with regard to presidential nomination," he said.

He said communication and compromise with other political parties would only be done after Hanura officially submitted its presidential candidate.

"It will later lead to that," the former presidential candidate in 2004 and 2009 said.

Regarding Amien Rais`s statement that it would be difficult for senior politicians to win the presidential election Wiranto said that it was mere prediction and therefore could be wrong.

Wiranto said no convention was needed to determine Hanura`s presidential candidate because all regional boards, wing organizations and autonomous organizations had officially requested him to run. (*)
