Head of Gunung Kidul police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Asep Nalaludin said in Gunung Kidul Friday that the 400 police officers will be deployed in areas prone to crime and traffic accidents.
He said a number of locations prone to crime and accidents cover Pasar Argosari, Wonosari sub-district, Siyono, and Baron beach.
"We deployed our police officers in each command post set up in the three areas to arrange traffic and anticipate violence," he said.
He added that police personnel will also conduct patrols in Gunung Kidul in anticipation of criminal actions.
In the meantime, head of head of Gunung Kidul traffic police Ajunct Police Commissioner Suryo Hutomo said his men has anticipated traffic jams to tourist destinations on January 1, 2012.
"Security measures are focused along the roads to Baron beach, Krakal, Kukup, because the three areas each year are full of motor cyclists and cars," he said.
He added that the police along with the Gunung Kidul communication and information transportation agency heading for tourist objects and destinations will be closely arranged.
He said that if traffic density takes place in the morning, the tourists heading for Baron beach will have to use the Jalan Baron-Karangasem-Hargosari-Tepus-Krakal-Kukup route and Baron beach.
In the meantime, on their way home leaving the tourists are advised to use the Baron- Kemadang-Monggol-Trowono-Paliyan-Wonosari-Yogyakarta route.
Head of Gunung Kidul SAR team Subowo ssaid the team will keep watch for 24 hours in anticipation of sea accidents.
"We keep calling on tourists not to take a bath in the sea to anticipate sea accidents" he said.
