Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The working meeting between the House of Representatives` budgetary board and the government to decide the amount of fuel subsidy failed to reach an agreement until 01.25 a.m. on Sunday.

The meeting which began on Saturday evening was several times suspended to allow participants to make lobbies. At around 01.00 a.m. the meeting was again suspended for 30 minutes.

Member of the budgetary board Asfi Hani of the Democrat Party said the meeting still could not agree on two proposals.

The government proposed a fuel subsidy of Rp137 trillion with fiscal risk reserves amounting to Rp23 trillion. The proposal received support from the Democrat Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP).

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party supported the second proposal which sets the amount of fuel subsidy at Rp178 trillion.

Neither the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) nor the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) has decided their stand on the two proposals.

Asfi said the budgetary board would continue its working meeting with the government until they reached an agreement on the amount of fuel subsidy.
