"If there are new pressures on our economy the government would respond them with a necessary and correct policy," he said when explaining about the posture of the revised 2012 budget at the palace here on Saturday evening.
He said the governemnt would safeguard the situation so that it would remain conducive and therefore economic players and business community need not worry.
He also expressed his government`s commitment to maintaining the country`s macro-economic conditions and achieving the economic growth target.
He made the explanation after the House of Representatives (DPR) agreed early on Saturday to cancel the subsidized fuel hike planned to be implemented on April 1.
The decision made in a vote relating to the passege of the 2012 revised budget bill however gave the government an authority to adjust the price in case the Indonesian Crude Price rises or declines by 15 percent in the current six months period.
The vote was done on two options namely whether to stick to the substance of Article 7 Paragraph 6 that allows no opportunity for the government to raise the price of subsidized fuels or to insert Paragraph 6A on the article to allow the government to adjust the price if the ICP rises or declines by 15 percent in the current six months period.
A total of 356 members voted for Option Two against 82 who voted for Options One.
The Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) and the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) faction members walked out of the meeting before the vote was done. (*)
