"We are going to build three hospitals in the Jabodetabek. The funds and the design are available," Public Housing Minister Djan Faridz said here Friday.
The government has allocated Rp200 billion for the hospital construction and facilities needed to assure the health and safety of workers.
Further, the ministry is considering building five additional hospitals, which is expected to cost Rp200 billion.
"So, they will be in Bekasi, Karawang, Tangerang, Jakarta, and Bogor. But, we have to see," he said.
The priority services for the planned hospitals will include emergency units to treat work-related accidents in the industrial areas, he said.
The hospitals` managements will work closely with state workers` insurance company PT Jamsostek for their operation, medicines and medical treatment costs.
"The hospitals will operate by using Jamsostek fees. The medical cost will be paid monthly to the hospitals. We just handle the construction," he said.
Faridz hopes the construction will be ready to begin in mid-2012 since the regional administrations in Jabodetabek area have allocated the lands.
"The budget is available and the President has instructed the construction of the hospitals," he said.
Jabodetabek is an acronym for Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi.
