Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Officials of Eid al-Adha at Istiqlal, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia, have finished distributing five thousand kilograms of sacrificial meat to the public.

"We started distributing the sacrificial meat at 4.30 a.m. (local time), after implementing Fajr Salat in congregations, even though people began arriving at 02.00 a.m.," Chief Executive and Manager of Istiqlal, Hajj Mubarok, said here on Saturday.

According to Mubarok, the distribution of meat using coupons proceeded smoothly.

"Everyone gets a coupon that can be exchanged for one kilogram of meat. Then, those who have received meat must dip their finger into ink, so they won`t be given meat twice," he explained.

To assist in the distribution, Mubarok said, the committee set up one thousand seats for the recipients, while waiting to receive their meat.

Mubarok added that the officials at Istiqlal also received help from as many as three hundred security personnel from the National Police Headquarter and the National Army while the meat was being distributed.

He further added that Istiqlal received 84 sacrificial animals, which included 47 cows and 37 goats.

The President and Vice President, as well as ministers and other high-ranking officials, are regular donors of sacrificial animals at Istiqlal, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia.
