"Based on the investigation report, the attackers used six weapons usually used for Kopassus training at Mount Lawu, East Java," Unggul told a press conference here on Thursday.
He said the six assailants used three AK47 rifles, two AK47 replicas and one "SIG Sauer" replica.
Unggul explained the suspects had destroyed and threw the weapons into the Bengawan Solo River, which flowed through the provinces of Central Java and East Java.
"The attackers admitted they had decimated the weapons by burning and disposed them," he said.
Investigators have worked for six days in such places as Cebongan Detention Center, Yogyakarta`s Korem (military regiment command) and Kopassus Group II Base in Karang Menjangan, Solo. They examined 25 people.
"On the first day of the investigation, the assailanats confessed to have conducted the raid. They also said they carried out the attack consciously," Unggul said.
The attack on Cebongan prison involved eleven people.
Unggul said the action of Kopassus elements was spontaneous and unplanned.
The raid was allegedly as a revenge for the murder of a Kopassus member by tugs in a Hugo`s Cafe incident days before. They attacked and shot to death the five tugs who had been detained in the prison as suspects.
"They attacked the detention center and killed the suspects on solidarity grounds among Kopassus members," he said.(*)
