Trenggalek, E Java (ANTARA News) - Terrorist suspect Andri Wahono, who was arrested during a raid in East Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday, was released by the National Police`s anti-terror squad, Densus 88, the next day.

"We have been informed that he was released on Wednesday night, although we have not received an official notification from the National Police Headquarters," said Adj. Snr. Comr. Deny Setya Nugraha Nasution, chief of the Trenggalek district police, here on Thursday.

Hailing from Gamping village, Suruh sub-district, Tenggalek district, East Java, Andri was one of the three terrorist suspects arrested during the Tuesday raid.

He was suspected of being part of a plot to bomb the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta, Nasution said, adding that the plot was allegedly hatched to avenge the violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

However, Andri was acquitted of the charges.

Nasution revealed that the investigation by Densus 88 did not yield enough evidence to declare Andri as a terrorist suspect.

Besides, he noted, the results of the Densus 88 probe were similar to those of the investigation conducted by the intelligence team of the Trenggalek district police soon after the arrest of Andri and the two other terrorist suspects.

"Based on the findings of our team`s investigation in the field, there is no proof that the young man was engaging in extremist activities. Andri also enjoys a good reputation in his hometown, due to which he we had to conclude that he is clean," Nasution added.
