Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief of the Indonesian Police General Sutarman has appointed Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti as his deputy to succeed Commissioner General Oegroseno who entered retirement period as of February 28, 2014.

"Last night I announced that it is Badrodin Haiti," General Sutarman stated here on Friday after installing Brigadier General Husein Hamidi as the new chief of the Aceh provincial police.

Haitis appointment is based on the Police Chiefs telegram letter No. ST/478/II/2014 dated February 27, 2014. His post as Deputy Chief of the Indonesian Police will be effective starting March 1, 2014.

Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti is currently the chief of the National Polices Maintenance and Security. Haiti is also the head of general elections security operation.

He pointed out that the appointment of Haiti was based on the best considerations. Other nominees included Commissioner General Budi Gunawan (the head of the Police Educational Institute) and Commissioner General Anton Bachrul Alam (the general supervision inspector).

Born in Jember, East Java, on July 24, 1958, Badrodin Haiti graduated from the police academy in 1982.

His previous positions included the chief of the Central Sulawesi police (2006-2008), North Sumatra police (2009-2010), and East Java police (2010-2011).
