Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received a courtesy call from Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his office here on Friday.

"I am pleased that the meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa was productive. I believe that the results of the meeting will strengthen and intensify the bilateral cooperation between the two countries," President Yudhoyono emphasized while welcoming his guest.

The bilateral relations between Indonesia and Iran have been very sound so far, and in the future, the ties will be further strengthened through various bilateral cooperation activities.

"There are many opportunities that we could explore to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries," he reiterated.

Yudhoyono was accompanied, among others, by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa, Research and Technology Minister Gusti Muhammad Hatta, Trade Minister M Lutfhi, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam, during the 15-minute meeting.

Minister Zarif was flanked, among others, by Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mahmoud Farazandeh and Iranian legislator Mehdi Davatgari.

Following the courtesy call, Minister Marty Natalegawa informed the press that in the meeting with the head of state, Minister Zarif assured them that the relations between Iran and Indonesia were very sound.

"Between Indonesia and Iran, there are no obstacles in the very sound and positive relations between the two nations," the minister noted.

Minister Zarif, in the meeting with President Yudhoyono, also explained the steps to be taken in future to boost closer cooperation between the two states particularly in the fields of economic, technology and energy.
