The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) closed 33.83 points lower at 4,857.94 with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 1.05 percent to 820.08 points.
"Investors are awaiting the release of US macro economic data, that they tended to sell shares for profit,"Panin Sekuritas analyst Purwoko Sartono said.
Purwoko, however, said the result of legislative election on April 9 is expected to be positive for the market .
There were 174,219 transactions recorded in Fridays trade with 3.55 billion share worth Rp4.41 trillion changing hands,
Gainers were outnumbered by declines by 114 to 145 with 97 shares unchanged.
Regional markets such as Hang Seng recorded a 0.24 percent decline in index to 22,510, with Nikkei index down 0.05 percent to 15,063.77 and that of Straits Times falling 0.23 percent to 3,212.72 points.(*)
