SINGAPORE, April 23, 2014 (ANTARA/BERNAMA-AsiaNet) --
The first NEC smart energy solution developed in Singapore for the Asia Pacific and global market
NEC Asia Pacific, a leading solutions provider, announced today the launch of NEC’s energy management and control (EMC) system, a smart energy solution that is capable of reducing total energy consumption of an enterprise by more than 10% and up to 35%(*) for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) consumption.
The end-to-end solution saves energy by optimising air conditioning, lighting and equipment operations, and is capable of managing different sources of energy such as utility grid, battery systems (VRLA, Li-ion, etc.), diesel generators and renewable sources. NEC EMC’s intelligent software provides an overall view of users’ energy profile, enabling analysis of consumption patterns at specific locations via an intuitive interface. The solution offers a wide range of applications such as office and building monitoring, data centre and retail outlet energy management as well as large scale specific deployments.
The NEC EMC gathers data through sensors and power meters, strategically placed within a facility, and it consists of powerful controllers utilising intelligent control algorithms to maintain equipment performance while minimizing energy consumption.
"Businesses today are faced with the challenge of reducing their energy consumption and saving on operating expenditure. With no visibility on their energy usage until they receive their utility bills, enterprises are unable to identify their actual energy consumption. This solution not only enables companies to monitor and report energy use, it can also control consumption," said Manish Kasliwal, Director, Regional Business Innovation and head of the Smart Energy Business Incubation Centre, NEC Asia Pacific.
â€With NEC’s technology capabilities and deployment expertise in the lithium-ion based energy storage systems, we plan to integrate the same with our EMC solution to offer a comprehensive end to end energy efficiency improvement to our customers,†he added.
For example, in a solution tested for a large convenient store chain in South East Asia, the client formerly spent significant amounts of money annually for energy costs and lacked visibility on the breakdown of energy usage. This solution enabled them to keep track of energy usage and at the same time optimize their HVAC energy consumption.
The NEC EMC solution will be launched across Asia Pacific. The solution is currently being implemented in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for buildings and for companies in retail, telecom and utility sectors.
*Savings are based on field trials conducted across multiple countries in the Asia Pacific region. Actual savings are subject to change based on a variety of conditions.
