Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated that fighting corruption should become one of the main tasks of the next government.

"We are aware that there are still several homework (left to be done), among others, corruption cases," President Yudhoyono clarified during the opening of a national development planning meeting here on Wednesday.

He noted that prevention and elimination of corruption cases was the main task that had to be done by the next government, which will be formed after this years legislative elections and presidential race.

The President also mentioned seven matters for the next government, namely good governance, bureaucratic reform, infrastructure-electricity, fiscal management, acceleration of poverty eradication, prevention of communal conflicts, democracy and increasingly qualitative general elections.

Yudhoyono also reminded the various parties of the need to accelerate and reinforce development to achieve sustainable economic development.

"Let us accelerate and strengthen our development. This is an important agenda," he asserted.

For this purpose, he reminded all governments rank and file who take part in the national development planning meeting, including ministers, governors, district heads and mayors of the importance of carrying out the extraordinary tasks for the people.

The head of state also expressed his hope to see Indonesian people free from a pessimistic attitude and free from the opinion that it was difficult for Indonesia to advance.

"Optimistic people will believe that Indonesia can gain advancement and it will be recorded by history," he added.

He pointed put that development is not a short-term activity but a long one, which is often faced with problems and complexities.
