The risk will be too great if the election organizers are not neutral."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Secretary General Tjahjo Kumolo has called on the public to watch over the vote counting process at ballot stations to prevent fraud.
"I call on all factions, including volunteers, supporters, and security officials, to supervise the process of presidential election at every ballot station. Let us realize peoples sovereignty by electing our leader in a fair and honest manner," Tjahjo said here on Monday.
He expressed his hope that the bitter experience during the legislative elections on April 9, 2014, should not recur in the July 9 presidential election.
"The risk will be too great if the election organizers are not neutral," the chairman of Jokowi-Kallas success team said, adding that money politics is usually rampant as the election date nears.
Indonesians will exercise their franchise on July 9, 2014, to elect their new president, either former army general Prabowo Subianto and his running mate former economy minister Hatta Radjasa, or Joko Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla, the former vice president.
Arrangements for elections in Indonesia are being carried out under the supervision of the General Election Commission (KPU).
The presidential elections this year will take place in accordance with Law No 42/2008. ***1***
