The Golkar Party would neither join the government coalition nor become the opposition party in the parliament, he revealed in a text message received here on Wednesday.
According to the third way, the party stays outside the Red-White (KMP) or the Great Indonesia (KIH) coalitions formed following the presidential election on July 9, which was won by President Joko Widodo from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
In keeping with the stance, he said the Golkar Party will adopt a constitutional course whereby it will adhere to the regulations set in the 1945 constitution.
By taking this stance, Golkar would be freer and more liberal to articulate its political concepts and views, he said.
"Golkar can concentrate more on facing the 2019 elections. Golkar will not interrupt the functioning of the government, but on the other hand, the government also must not interfere and allure Golkar to join it," he added.
Hajriyanto was of the viewpoint that if the two camps worked hard then a solution can be found.
He said Golkars political choice is not merely about being inside or outside the government or staying in the KMP or joining the KIH, which he considered as a myopic or narrow view.
He emphasized that the two camps must be open to different political options for the sake of the partys future.
"Politics must not be rigid. It cannot be easily made permanent," he stated while referring to statements that the KMP is a permanent coalition.
To settle their conflicts, negotiators from the two camps met at the party headquarters on Tuesday to seek a solution and agreed to continue the talks on January 8, 2015.
Regarding Golkars future political position, the two camps, however, still held different opinions.
Golkar Party Deputy General Chairman Priyo Budi Santoso, who was elected in a congress in Jakarta, said it was "halal" (okay) for the party to leave KMP, but the decision had yet to be discussed with the Aburizal Bakrie camp.
"Leaving KMP is okay without necessarily having to join KIH," he remarked at the party headquarters here on Tuesday.
Priyo, who is one of the negotiators from the Agung Laksono camp, noted that during the meeting, it was discussed that the two camps would partner with the government.
However, he stated that although the differences still existed, but they were close to reaching a settlement, which is expected to occur on January 8, 2015.
In the meantime, Theo Sambuaga, a negotiator from the Aburizal Bakrie camp, noted that differences in viewpoints still existed with the Agung Laksono camp, and so, the Bakrie camp decided to fight independently or function as a balancing power.
He revealed that Golkars current position, as part of the KMP, would be discussed with the Agung Laksono camp.
The Golkar Party is now split under the dual leadership of Aburizal Bakrie and Agung Laksono, who were respectively elected in a congress in Bali and a rival one in Jakarta.
