The result of the draw is certainly in our favor as we can save our energy."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi have expressed their readiness here on Monday to compete in the World Badminton Championship 2015 scheduled to be held here next week.
"Certainly, the challenges will be different from those faced in the super series. Minimally, we can gain points and enter the top 10 ranking," Angga informed ANTARA News at the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) training center in Cipayung.
Angga, pairing with Ryan Agung Saputra, had participated in the 2013 and 2014 world championships.
He noted that the situation at Istora Senayan stadium in Jakarta, the venue of the World Championship 2015, would certainly be different as several spectators would support the Indonesian players.
He acknowledged to have participated in the recent SEA Games 2015 and the Taiwan Open 2015 along with Ricky as a warm-up to the upcoming World Championship 2015 scheduled on August 10-16.
"The result of the draw is certainly in our favor as we can save our energy. We need not play in the first round and will proceed directly to the second round," he pointed out.
Angga/Ricky would be one of the eight pairs to play in the mixed doubles event in the championship. Others include Tantowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto, Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili, and Edi Subaktiar/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan will play in the mens doubles event while Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii will compete in the womens doubles event and Maria Febe Kusumastuti in the womens singles event.
Seven Indonesian players who have to clear the first round are Tommy Sugiarto and Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the mens singles, Linda Wenifanetri in the womens singles, Andrei Adistia/Hendra Aprida Gunawan and Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira/Ade Yusuf in the mens doubles, and Devi Tika Permatasari/Keshya Nurvita Hanadia and Vita Marissa/Shendy Puspa Irawati in the womens doubles event.
Ricky Soebagja, the PBSI head of sub-division of the national training center, hoped that the Indonesian players would win titles in the mens doubles and mixed doubles events.
"There are also high expectations from Nitya/Greysia. We indeed have not set a special target for the championship. I believe each athlete is aiming to win a title," he added.
