"The championship will be held at the Remaja Pekanbaru Sports Stadium from September 3 to 6, this year," Kurniawan noted here on Thursday.
According to the spokesman, representatives from 30 countries will take part in the International Taekwondo Championship, and half of them have confirmed their participation.
"Of all 30 countries, 15 have confirmed their participation in the taekwondo championship," he said, adding that it will be a matter of pride for Pekanbaru to host the event.
Kurniawan noted that Pekanbaru, as part of its development program to become a "MICE" (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) city on Sumatra Island, always strives to promote itself in order to be selected as the venue for holding both national and international meetings.
MICE is a type of tourism in which large groups, usually planned well in advance, are brought together for a specific purpose.
