We in Indonesia, have these two factors."Hainan (ANTARA News) - Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla attended and delivered a speech at the opening of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), which focuses on the future of Asia in the Hainan Province, China, on Thursday.
"I will speak about Indonesias view regarding the future of Asia and the potential to strengthen cooperation and equality to boost investment among Asian countries," Kalla stated here.
Currently, the Indonesian government is opening cooperation opportunities in the economic field with China, particularly with Chinese investors to make investment in Indonesia.
Indonesia is offering huge and promising opportunities to industrial states such as China, Japan, and South Korea.
"All industrial countries, China in particular, need a wider market and a cheap production base with vast resources. We in Indonesia, have these two factors," Kalla pointed out.
The vice president emphasized the need to introduce efficient regulations to ease the flow of foreign investment into Indonesia.
The vice president arrived at the BFA hotel accompanied by Trade Minister Thomas Trikasih Lembong, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani, Deputy Foreign Minister A.M. Fachir, Vice Presidential Secretariat Chief Mohamad Oemar, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Soegeng Rahardjo.
During his stay in China, Kalla will meet Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, the Russian vice prime minister, South Korean vice prime minister, and Chinese business leaders.
BFA is an economic forum formed in 2001 by developing Asian countries to discuss regional development.
BFA seeks to promote cooperation and coordination, particularly over economic issues, between Asian countries and the rest of the world.
The formation of BFA was initiated by former Philippine president Fidel V. Ramos, former Australian prime minister Bob Hawke, and former Japanese prime minister Morihiro Hosokawa.
The BFA was officially launched by 28 Asia-Pacific countries in February 2001 in Boao, China.
The BFA Annual Conference, themed "Asias New Future: New Dynamics, New Visions" and held on March 22-25, is being attended by more than two thousand delegates, including the heads of governments, CEOs, economists, and academicians.
The delegates will discuss issues related to financial and economic reforms, trade and investment, and industry related to regional security and social culture.
