Do not issue any regulations that could hinder (investment)Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has called on the local administrations to issue regulations that will not hinder investment.
"Do not issue any regulations that could hinder (investment)," Kumolo stated on the sidelines of a working meeting of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) here, Friday.
The minister urged the local governments to focus on development programs that are in line with the local potential.
"For instance, we need to focus on Bali, with its tourism industry, and West Nusa Tenggara, with its tourism, agriculture, and mining industries," he emphasized.
The minister has also called on the local governments to provide effective and efficient services and to ensure stability and legal certainty.
At the meeting, BKPM Chairman Thomas Lembong revealed that he had received complaints from investors on the licensing process that has yet to be integrated with the central government.
In several cases, investors had to submit their companys data more than once, as the database of the local authorities was not linked to that of the central government.
"There are complaints about the same form with different formats. This indicates inefficiency and a lack of standardization," Lembong pointed out.
Hence, the BKPM, Home Affairs Ministry, and local authorities will give priority to the coordination, integration, and standardization scheme.
The scheme is expected to improve services for investment and help to create a favorable investment climate.
During the occasion, the BKPM and Home Affairs Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding to use the basic citizenship number and e-ID to help BKPM access the local potential as well as players that will participate in the regions development.
