"To help secure and support the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta, we will deploy 1,637 special personnel of the Municipal Police," Jakarta Head of the Municipal Public Order Security Agency, Yani Wahyu Purwoko noted here on Thursday.
According to Purwoko, a total of 1,637 special personnel will be deployed at three main points: the athlete homesteads, arena of the Asian Games, and road segments to be passed by athletes.
"In addition to the three main points, our personnel will guard crowded places, including tourist locations and shopping areas or malls," he revealed.
In the run-up to the Asian Games event until its completion, he stated that members of the Municipal Police in charge will operate in the morning and evening shifts.
Meanwhile, his side has actively participated in safeguarding the Asian Games logo in the form of banners installed at roadsides, office buildings, and malls.
"We also secure the banner of the Asian Games as part of the efforts of the Jakarta Municipal Police in supporting the implementation of the Asian Games 2018," he remarked.
Hence, he also expects the implementation of the Asian Games in Jakarta City to run in a smooth, safe, and vibrant manner, starting from the beginning of preparations until the end of the event.
