Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Public Security and Order Agency (Satpol PP) deployed thousands of personnel to maintain security and order in the city during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"Around three thousand, or two-thirds of the total number of Jakarta Satpol PP personnel are deployed to carry out monitoring, supervision, and security in the society during the Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri holiday period," Head of Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin stated here on Monday.

Arifin remarked that the Satpol PP personnel either at the village, sub-district, city, and provincial levels are committed to keeping the city safe and conducive before, during, and after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri.

"Along with the police and the Indonesian military as well as community elements, we are ready to maintain safety, comfort, and the condition, so that residents are able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr," he said.

In addition to helping guard the Integrated Security Post, Satpol PP personnel will patrol residential areas to monitor safety in the local areas and to remind residents to be aware of fire hazards.

"We massively go to the residential areas to remind residents to not forget to turn off all electrical appliances and stoves at home," he said.

During the Eid prayer, Satpol PP personnel will also carry out security measures humanely, such as by wearing traditional clothing.

"This is a surprise prepared by the Jakarta Satpol PP that officers who are in charge of security during the Eid prayer (will wear traditional clothing)," Arifin said.

Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono also reminded the public to ensure their home security during the Eid holiday.

"You must ensure the house you leave is safe,” he remarked while releasing Eid travelers participating in the "2024 Fun Homecoming Program with the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs)" in Jakarta.

He suggested that travelers entrust the safety of their houses to the village heads and other security officials.
