Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Public Order Security Agency (Satpol PP) has prepared personnel and security posts along Thamrin-Sudirman Street and other local roads to accommodate public complaints and to secure the New Year's Eve celebrations.

"We will supervise public security and order during the 2024 New Year's Eve celebrations at public spaces and control visitors' flow at the event location or entertainment stages," Head of Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin stated here on Thursday.

Satpol PP has readied a total of 1,640 personnel to secure the city's New Year's celebration events.

"We will deploy 930 personnel along Thamrin-Sudirman Street for the 'Malam Muda Mudi Jakarta Global' event," he remarked.

Moreover, as many as 360 personnel will secure activities at the city and district administrative level, while another 350 personnel will be tasked with securing public spaces on the next day on January 1, 2024.

"We try to minimize potential violations of local regulations, such as the existence of street traders and people who need social welfare services, such as homeless people, beggars, and others," Arifin remarked.

In addition, the Satpol PP will prepare 56 posts along Thamrin-Sudirman Street to accommodate residents' complaints if there are separated family members or missing children, including loss of valuables.

Satpol PP will cooperate with the Police to follow up on the report of crimes.

Arifin said that his side always coordinates with the authorities to ensure all activities on New Year's Eve take place safely.

"We hope that the public can comply with the regulations. In anticipation of the development of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta, we ask the public to re-implement health protocols," he stated.
