Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Public Security and Order Agency (Satpol PP) has begun patrols to ensure all entertainment venues comply with operating regulations during the Ramadan month.

According to the West Jakarta Satpol PP's head of public security and order, Edison Butar Butar, the supervision of entertainment venues is based on a Jakarta Satpol PP instruction and a circular letter issued on February 28, 2024, by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office.

"The surveillance was conducted yesterday during the first Tarawih night. We follow the circular of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office," Butar informed here on Tuesday.

He said that the supervision will be carried out on Wednesday (March 13) again, following the collective leave day on March 12.

As per the circular regarding the implementation of tourism businesses during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri, certain tourism businesses are required to close on D-1 Ramadan.

"Certain types of tourism businesses are required to close on one day before the holy month of Ramadan until the third day of Eid al-Fitr," Butar said.

According to him, nightclubs, discotheques, steam baths, massage houses, and recreation venues for adults are required to close during the period.

Earlier, the Jakarta Satpol PP tightened supervision and regulation of entertainment and recreation venues for the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 H.

"We will routinely carry out this evening (patrol) activity for 33 days starting March 11 to April 12 in the five administrative city areas," head of business place supervision and control at Jakarta Satpol PP, Eko Saptono, said.
