Im "ate up" the last 200 meters of the 3.5-round race with 9.865 seconds, breaking the previous Asian Games record of 9.892 seconds made by Chinese racer Chao Xu in the qualifying round on the same day.
The previous Asian Games record was held by Seiichiro Nakagawa from Japan, who made it during the 2014 Incheon Asian Games in 9.942 seconds.
